Williams Door Company was founded in 1971 by Mike Williams, starting with a $100 investment and inspired by his father’s work in garage door installation at Crawford Garage Door Sales. By 1977 the business leased its first office and warehouse on Kingston Pike, carrying the inventory from Crawford Garage Door Sales when that operation closed .

With dedication to craftsmanship and customer care, Williams Door Company expanded through the 1980s and 1990s: moving to Perimeter Park Drive in 1988, then to Sherway Road in 1992. From a single warehouse, the company grew to five warehouses totaling around 20,000 ft² by 1998, adding outdoor storage for commercial coiling doors .
